Mazak has introduced the VORTEX HORIZONTAL PROFILER 160 XP HMC for fast, accurate processing of medium and large parts. With a 157.48" x 49.21" wide table that has a maximum loading weight of 6,614 lbs., this machine is suited for aircraft machining applications, especially structural components of wing systems such as wing ribs.
Featuring a 160-HP, 30,000-RPM HSK-A63 spindle with integral motor-spindle design, the VORTEX HORIZONTAL PROFILER 160 XP offers power and rigidity to cut a wide range of challenging materials with a standard 30-tool magazine for enhanced machine tool versatility.
The machine's 157" (4,000 mm) x 63" (1,600 mm) vertically oriented worktable accommodates workpieces up to 6,614 lbs. (3,000 kg). It also positions horizontally to facilitate part loading and set-up. An optional rotary-type, two-table changer further boosts productivity. Axis travels measure 165" in X, 59" in Y, and 22" in Z (4,191 mm x 1,499 mm x 559 mm) to accommodate a wide range of part sizes.
For full 5-axis capabilities, the machine's rotary/tilt spindle provides +/- 200° C-axis rotation and +/- 100° A-axis tilt. The 50-RPM direct-drive motors power both C and A axes.
Mazak integrated the VORTEX HORIZONTAL PROFILER 160 XP's machine base, column and table into a box-type design that enables consistent, highly rigid cutting performance. Rapid traverse rates enable high levels of productivity. An advanced coolant and chip disposal system evacuates chips efficiently and minimizes heat displacement for greater stability during cutting processes.
